Bio

Maya is a fourth-year student double majoring in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, with an interest in spacecraft mechanical systems for deep space and planetary exploration systems.

In the HRVIP Lab, she works on the actuation and control of a flexible spiral end effector designed for gentle plant manipulation in a space-based hydroponic system for plant health monitoring. Her contributions include motor integration, joystick-based control mapping across three axes of motion, and prototyping and testing to evaluate precision and compliance.

She previously served as a drivetrain engineer on the Formula Racing at UC Davis team and now serves as President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers at UC Davis. In her free time, she enjoys cafe hopping, crafting her own coffee creations, and exploring local flea markets and vintage shops.
