Bio

Kai Hori is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of California, Davis, pursuing dual bachelor’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Originally from Japan, Kai moved to the United States during high school and has developed a strong interest in aerospace engineering.

As a member of the lab Kai contributes to work related to satellite communications, ground-station development, and mission operations infrastructure. His current work supports the MOON initiative, which focuses on developing university-based capabilities for receiving, processing, and displaying satellite data for education, research, and hands-on mission operations training. Through this project, he has worked with antenna systems, SDR-based satellite reception, automated tracking concepts, and the broader architecture needed to support real-time satellite data acquisition.

Outside of his lab work, Kai enjoys DJing, working out, and watching the Godfather over and over again.
