Joe is an MD/PhD student working on the Space Ambulance project, which is developing a novel interior spacecraft design for implementation of medical services in space. He is utilizing his experience with emergency medicine and biomedical engineering to investigate the intersection of medical services and engineering design as it applies to performing medical procedures in spaceflight and microgravity. Since graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2022, he has consulted with HRVIP as a clinical resource in the Space Ambulance project. He is currently in the PhD portion of his training, working simultaneously in the Christiansen Lab researching approaches to better predict bone loss. His free time consists of running, playing basketball, cooking, and cycling.
